RYAN DOUGLAS was far from disappointed despite a tough day at the office for Leicester at Glasgow in a 49-41 defeat.
The result at Ashfield Stadium means the Watling JCB Lions now face Scunthorpe in the Play-Off quarter-finals.
But even though Glasgow are straight into the semis, Douglas feels the extra meetings could be advantage.
He said: “It’s another two meetings for us and it keeps us riding. I think we’ve done well at Scunthorpe before. It’s more meetings for us to get dialled in and push on to the next stage.
“Today was fairly slick at Glasgow, we didn’t expect it to be so slick. It took us half a meeting to try and get the set-up.
“But in the end we definitely got that sorted and had some heat advantages and we were on the pace a lot more.
“If we have to come back to Glasgow again we can start off more competitively and get a better result.
“We do have to peak at the right time. This is a tough place to come. But all the Play-Off teams will be hard to beat and we are one of them. We’ve just got to keep our heads down and be ready for the next stage.”
Douglas was outstanding with paid 16 but the Lions were always toiling after trailing by 10 points after just three races.
Team boss Stewart Dickson acted swiftly to bring in Douglas as a tac sub in Heat 5 which reduced the deficit to just four.
But Heats 10 and 11 killed off any lingering hopes of taking anything from the clash. A 5-1 from Broc Nicol and Craig Cook over Hans Andersen and Kyle Howarth was followed by a bizarre turn of events.
Lions grabbed a vital 4-2 over Ricky Wells but the tapes had not gone up properly on the outside leaving Pole Marcin Nowak stranded. The referee Willie Dishington let the race go to its conclusion.
But then in a shock move ordered that the race be re-run and Tigers took a vital maximum as Nick Morris shed a chain.
Two 5-1s in the last two heats brought the score closer on a hard afternoon for the Lions.
